Improv Week! February 24-26 2015

  • Tuesday, February 24, 7:00-9:30 pm, MCKN 203: CME Workshop (Joe Sorbara and Jacob Drab Sextet), co-sponsored by SOFAM, Silence, and IICSI

The Jacob Matheus Drab Sextet will perform a short 'concert' to start followed by a Q&A to get into what they do. The CME and the JMDS will work together to play music of both the CME and the JMDS and to integrate a group composition.

  • Wednesday, February 25, 1:00-3:00 pm, MCKN 107: IICSI Reading Group: The Art of Collective Improvisation moderated by David Lee, co-sponsored by SOFAM, Silence and IICSI

Through musical, philosophical, historical and social/anthropological perspectives, with incorporated demonstrations and performances by guitarist Jacob Drab and bassist Rob Taylor, this workshop / talk will include short readings from works by W. Kandinsky, Adorno, Ganassi and Schoenberg, as well as excerpts from The Fierce Urgency of Now.
