Stéphanie Bénéteau is an internationally renowned storyteller. In addition to charming her public with her stories, she facilitates workshops around the world. For the event, Stéphanie will demonstrate the art of storytelling and discuss the tools of this craft. A compelling presence, she will enchant you with every word.

Prices: pay what you can - a donation of $5 is suggested for students and $10 for all others.

Tickets are available at the School of Languages and Literatures, University of Guelph (267 MacKinnon), at 10 Carden, or at the door the night of the event.

Workshop - Learn to tell stories with Stéphanie Bénéteau

Friday, March 14, 2014 from 9:30-11:30 am at the Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation, 9 University Avenue East, University of Guelph

In this practical workshop, the participants will be invited to learn the art of storytelling and oral tradition. For centuries, storytelling has been a tool to transmit the language, culture, and values of a people. Traditional stories teach while entertaining; they are rich in vocabulary, characters, ideas, and values. They are also an excellent tool for learning and teaching a second language. Learn to improvise and creatively interpret a story. We will work on gesture, voice, and public performance. This workshop will deepen participants' abilities to presents a story in public, to express themselves verbally, and to communicate in a way that is both natural and vibrant.

Atelier Apprendre à conter avec Stéphanie Bénéteau

Vendredi 14 mars 2014 de 9h30 à 11h30, Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation, 9 University Ave E, Université de Guelph

Dans cet atelier pratique, les participants seront initiés à l’art du conte et de la tradition orale. Depuis des siècles, le conte est un outil de choix pour transmettre la langue, la culture et les valeurs d’un peuple. Les contes traditionnels instruisent tout en divertissant; ils sont riches en vocabulaire, en personnages, en idées et en valeurs. C’est aussi un excellent outil pour apprendre et enseigner une langue seconde. Apprenez comment raconter un conte sans l’apprendre par cœur, et comment l’interpréter de façon expressive. Nous travaillerons la gestuelle, la voix et la présentation devant un public. Cet atelier approfondira les habiletés des participants à présenter en public, à s’exprimer oralement et à communiquer de façon naturelle et vivante.
